Christmas table topper - done.

Christmas table topper

Happy Thanksgiving.
Had a very good meal again at the Leid Lodge.
The salmon was my favorite.
Also saw most of the Dills.  So nice to see them.
Now working on the table topper. Bought more fabric to do the binding. Not sure I like the green binding now but too late now.
Also been working on the secret Christmas gifts which I can't post now. Making progress. Not done. Next is Ryan's quilt. The final phase.

Nothin' happening in the kitchen?

Been busy making Christmas gifts. Can't post pics until after just on the obscure chance someone might actually read this.
Ha ha ha ha!

Ryans quilt and alpaca fleece

I removed the binding from Ryan's quilt the other night.
Next comes adding the additional border.
(Just call me crazy)
More to come on that.

Also working on washing the monster bag of unbelievably ďirty alpaca.

Not done yet.  Had to stop to do applepalooza.

Applepalooza

Just spent the last two days making applesauce.
We have two winesap apple trees which are loaded.
Why did I think seven buckets of apples was a good idea?
Ugh!
Fortunately it is done and tastes great.  No sugar.  Just apples, cider vinegar, cinnamon and vanilla.   Good hot or cold.  Very chunky.  It will be good with pork tenderloin tonight.
(I also froze up enough slices to make 5 apple pies)

Love my peeler.
Two batches down.  One large batch to go.

Did I say chunky?

Apple peel spaghetti!
(Good for the  compost pile)

Love the huge softball size apples.

Wintergreen and tulip quilts

These are the last two projects I worked on last weekend at the retreat.
I had one block of the wintergreen quilt done and started the tulip quilt.
Lori and I will be working on the tulip quilt together.  She found the patten in a magazine, showed it to me and really wanted to make it.  It is a good projectime to learn a lot of basic skills so I said I'd help her.  We each are making our own quilt.
It will be fun!
I cut out the wintergreen quilt and made one block back in March.  I was able to get two more done at the retreat.  I love the pattern and the soft colors.

Trying hard to keep those points looking good!

The tulip quilt turns out to be a great learning project for me.

Ha ha on me.  It was pointed out that I shouldn't follow the directions and sew the three color bands, cut them into 4" pieces and then sew the pieces together.
Instead, I should have sewed a crap load of color bands together then cut the 4" strips.
Duh.
Ah well, live and learn.
(Lori, don't do what I did)

I also did a needle felting class.  Pumpkins and snowmen.
Everyone did really well.  It is fun to see them all together.
Angel made an adorable kitty to put in her vignette and Pat tackled making a cat.  Way to go girls!

Red Button table topper

Another quick project I figured I would throw together quick.
To finish the top I just hàve to draw and embroider the pine branches and attach the adorable snowman buttons.

Floating Star

I brought two small project kits with me.  The Floating Star came from Stitching Tree.  I substituted a plain center fabric since my cruet set will sit on it.
(I'm will be posting details of the sewing process, including mistakes, to help a friend of mine who is learning to sew and quilt.  So Lori, those are for you!)

😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Nice 1/4 " seam allowance over the points.
Look for those Lori when your points touch a seam.

Crap!  I hate when I can't cut straight.
Fudge time.

October Retreat and Project Progress

My favorite time of year.  October.  I love spending part of it at the OQG Camp Wammamakeablankie retreat.  Beautiful accommodations, great friends and always new friends.  AND time to get er' done!

Howdy! I thought I would attempt to keep a record of my projects and share them with friends.  More to come...... hopefully!
